Jody is a loving husband, father, grandfather, and Christian, born and raised in Spokane, Washington.
Most of his adult life was spent helping people, and Jody hopes to continue by serving as your U.S. Congressman for the 5th District of Washington State.
Among all of his goals, his primary goal is to unite the Republican Party in an effort that the party can speak with one resolute voice to restore our nation to its founding conservative values and principles.
Jody Spurgeon stands in support of Law Enforcement, the 1st and 2nd Amendments, the right to life and human dignity, and of our military veterans who gave so much, yet received so little. Lest we forget!

A Strong History of Service
Shortly after graduating from Ferris High School in 1975, Jody enlisted in the Army but was soon medically discharged when it was discovered that he had flat feet. In 1981 he began his career in Law Enforcement with the Ferry County Sheriff’s Department. Jody attended the Spokane Police Academy in 1983 and spent a total of 28 years as a, Patrol Officer, Road Deputy, Chief of Police, and Town Marshal.
During that time Jody attended Spokane Falls Community College studying Psychology and English Composition. He also received credits for in-service classes including 2000 hours of specialized training. In 2016, Jody was injured on the job requiring 3 shoulder surgeries that ended his law enforcement career.
Jody has spent most of his adult life serving the public. If elected, he will continue helping people as their representative voice in Congress.
Jody is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and actively supports our brave Veterans.
Jody firmly believes that we need to pull the Republican party together. That includes weeding out the RINOs and replaceing them with solid conservative republican leaders. You will never hear the word RINO associated with his name. You can count on Jody to fight for what he believes and never give up.
Jody is a skilled communicator. He is able to not only listen, but also to talk with people in a non-confrontational manner that validates the opinions while working toward common goals. This is a skill he learned through his many years in Law Enforcement.
